New Drums on the Way!

Joel has a new kit on the way - a Tama Starclassic Bubinga kit for his studio.

Tama Drums gave the official U.S. debut to their new flagship series, Starclassic Bubinga Omni-Tune drum, at the 2005 Summer NAMM show. The new drums feature shells of 100% Bubinga, sometimes called African rosewood, fitted with a new lug system that allows all tuning to be effected from the batter side.

The unique Omni-Tune Lug allows you to tune both the top head and bottom head from the batter side. The Omni-Tune system expands and improves on the lug system invented in 1930 by drum designer William David Gladstone, which he created for snare drums. With the Starclassic Bubinga Omni-Tune, all the drums feature the Omni-Tune lug, so the entire sets benefits from faster, easier, and more precise tuning, according to Tama.

Tama's Omni-Tune lug has only two contact points with the drum shell, which allows the 100% Bubinga shells to resonate much more fully.

The only catch with this great set of drums? "Those suckers are too HEAVY to carry around! They will be staying in my CliffSound Production studio," says Joel.

Sizes will include 10," 12," 13," 15," and 18" and 22" kicks.

Joel expects them to be delivered in January, 2007.
